Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing Centre: Very Nice new health centre. Offers all the equipment of a normal gym, weights, CV machines, but also has a pool, spa, sauna, steam room and studio classes included in the monthly membership price. About £41 a month (BAE Employees get a discount from about £46).

Dalton Leisure Centre is a superbly equipped modern leisure centre with a 20-metre swimming pool, which includes a giant frog waterslide, glass-backed squash courts, a multi-purpose gym, cardio-vascular suite and other sports facilities.

Park Vale: Located on Walney Island. It has a 400-metre all-weather athletics track and facilities for netball, tennis, hockey, volleyball, rugby and football.

Hawcoat Park Club Hawcoat Lane, Barrow-in-Furness is the biggest community amateur sports facility in the area and is open to everyone in Furness and the surrounding area. The club has been provided by BAE Systems to allow individuals: male, female, young and old, to participate in one or more of the many activities and social events held there. It has some of the finest pitches in the North West; sporting activities held at the club are archery, badminton, bowls, cricket, rifle/pistol shooting, road running, rugby, football, tennis and table tennis. There is also a snooker table, pool table and big screen TV within the clubhouse.
